Tips and Tricks for Your WebSite 1. Here's an OBVIOUS one...Make sure all your links work. Believe it or not, many people forget to check this =/ (Even me ;) 2. Similar to above, make sure that all of your images aren't broken Make your site Netscape-Friendly by not using images that end in .bmp or .art 3. Don't use frames unless you can work them properly (Email me for further frames help) A way to get aound frames is to use a menu bar in a table. 4. If you're not sure how to do something, you can always look at someone's source. This is fine as long as you don't copy the source line by line (Go to the toolbar of your browser, and under view is "View Source") 5.Set
your image borders to zero to avoid seeing that line 6. Use backgrounds that don't conflict with the color of font you're writing with. Use fonts that everyone can see, because if someone doesn't have the font you're using, they will likely see it in the default Times New Roman or something similar 7.To make your links not be underlined, insert <.STYLE type="text/css">A {.text-decoration:none}#text {.text-align:justify} in between <.HEAD> and <./HEAD> (Thanks Usagi-Star for correcting me ^^) in your source (Remove the periods in the frag before using) 8. Before you upload you html/htm to your site, check the source and make sure that anytime it has something like <.IMG src="file:///C:\\WINDOWS\DESKTOP\Folder\whatever.jpg" width="32" height="32"> to fix so that it says <.IMG src="whatever.jpg"> otherwise people won't be able to see it 9. When in doubt, cheat. Use programs like Netscape Composer (Comes with the full version of Netscape), Claris 3.0 (Available for 30 days free at www.download.com), AOLPress, and Front Page Express (Comes with full Internet Explorer -- or at least it did with mine) to generate pages. Update: These AOL Press is no longer available...I do NOT know the status of Claris @ download.com...and who knows if any web builders are bundled w/ new computers :(
